Lesser bogies in Kannur-M’lore passenger train resented

Posted on Sep 25th, 2009 and filed under General.

KASARGOD : The reduction in the number of bogies in the Kannur-Mangalore passenger train has greatly inconvenienced the hundreds of passengers who rely on this train service daily.
The two trains operating on the route, initially had 18 bogies which were later reduced to 14. Ever since the Koccchuveli-Mangalore express train commenced services, the bogies of the former were reduced to 11.
The fact is that this Kannur –Mangalore passenger train used to remain overcrowded even when it had 18 bogies, and its position now with the bogies reduced to 11 is very much imaginable. As of now, people who rely on this train, particularly, women, children and the aged find it virtually impossible to board or alight the train.
Though a number of government buses operate on the route, people mostly rely on the train services which are more economical compared to the buses.
