Thieves continue to haunt Padubidri

Posted on Sep 25th, 2009 and filed under Crime/Mishaps.

PADUBIDRI : Residents of Kaup and Padubidri areas are still spending sleepless nights following continuing thefts in the locality which has posed a major challenge to the local police. Meanwhile, the public who apprehended four strangers who were moving around in a suspicious manner near Polipu handed them over to the Kaup police on Thursday.
As hundreds of people claiming themselves to be workers of Nagarjuna and Suzlon are found in the area, locals are actually unable to differentiate between the actual labourers and imposters who are all likely thieves, but are only posing as workers of the two companies.
On Wednesday night, it has been reported that some strangers had knocked at the doors of a panchayat member near Uchila, but had taken to their heels no sooner the inmates woke up. Even the search for them in the vicinity by the locals had proved futile.
