Whither M’lore-Udupi govt buses ?, Cong poser to VSA

Posted on Sep 26th, 2009 and filed under General.

UDUPI : The Udupi Congress has alleged that the Home Minister VS Acharya who is now ever keen to set up an airport in Udupi, heeding to the pressure from the Manipal Pais, was however backtracking on the earlier promise of his government to press KSRTC buses into service on the Udupi-Mangalore route.
The Congress has said the promise made by Transport Minister R Ashok to operate government Volvo buses, has proved false and feared that the government bus services may remain merely a dream as the authorities were all likely to succumb to the private bus operators’ lobby.
Congress leaders including Jaya Shetty Bannanje, Ganeshraj Saralebttu, Satish Acharya, Sandeep Sanil and others have made an appeal to the government to make efforts to at least press into service the ‘Red buses’ instead of evincing great interest to establish an airport at the behest of the Manipal Pais.
