
PADUBIDRI : A gang of thieves reportedly broke opened the doors of Yermal Vyaghra Chamundi temple and made away with an idol, cash and a lamp. The incident came to light on Monday morning.
The thieves who broke the locks of the temple belonging to Y Madhava Bhat of Yermal took away a 100 year old panchaloha idol weighing about 20 kgs valued at several thousands of rupees. The temple is located near the road connecting Yermal to Nagarjuna site near Yellur. The servants of the priest who were earlier sleeping in the temple had changed their sleeping quarters due to the menace posed by the robbers. It has been suspected that the thieves might have used the din and noise coming from the nearby house where a puja was going on till midnight to break open the locks of the temple. The incident came to light in the morning when the priest arrived at the temple for morning puja. The Padubidri police who arrived at the spot have registered a case of robbery.
