Forest panel chief arrested for smuggling wood

SULLIA : A case has been registered against the President of Forest Committee of Sampaje for illegally transporting wooden logs. The accused Jagadeesha Kedambady was arrested while transporting four logs of teak wood in his Maruthi Omni to a saw mill owned by Latheef near Gundikallu in DK district.
The operation was launched by the forest department officials following a tip off from the locals. The police have also seized the vehicle, while another accused Rajesh managed to escape.
