MANGALORE: Here is good news for Haj pilgrims. The Airports Authority of India has informed that direct flights from the Mangalore Airport to Jeddah International Airport in Saudi Arabia would be introduced for the very first time, for the convenience of Haj pilgrims.
According to VN Chandran, station Director of Mangalore Airport, Air India Express would be introducing special flights from Mangalore to Jeddah from October 17 to November 30 and from Jeddah to Mangalore from November 20 to January 1.
The special flights are a result of the three rounds of talks held between AAI officials, State Haj committee office bearers and other officials in this regard. The special flights are arranged in such a manner that they would not affect the usual flights. Chandran also informed that there would be a transit camp for emigration clearance, and separate customs and security clearance at the airport.
Hameed Kandak, Member of the All India Haj Committee , said as per the present agreement at least six special flights would take-off to Jeddah from here.
