BJP workers booked for attacking Dalit leader

UDUPI : The Malpe police have finally registered cases against two BJP workers for abusing, threatening and attempting to assault a Dalit leader. The accused have been identified as Subrahmanya Badya and Jaya Bangera. They have been booked under the SC, ST Atrocities Prevention Act.
The incident had taken place when DSS District Convenor Ramesh Kotian had raised the issue of misuse of funds meant for the welfare of SC, STs at a meeting convened by the Tenkanidiyoor gram panchayat. Though a complaint was lodged with the Malpe police immediately, the same was not registered. But, now the complaint has finally been registered after reports in this regard appeared in Karavali Ale and The Canara Times.
