Posted on Oct 5th, 2009 and filed under Human Interest.

BANGALORE : People’s Union for Civil Liberties-Karnataka has launched a web site on Saturday. Now the detailed reports on human rights violations in the state can be accessed through www.puclkarnataka.org. The website was inaugurated by Chairman of the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes Dr. C S Dwarakanath who also released a booklet titled ‘Kadadida Karnataka’ on the moral policing by Sangh Parivar and its outfits.
Speaking on the occasion C S Dwarakanath said that a partisan bureaucracy and police force which had been treating the Sangh Parivar elements responsible for fomenting communal riots and cultural policing with kid gloves have literally allowed the perpetrators of brutalities go scot free. Lauding the initiatives of PUCL-K, Alternative Law Forum, HHS and Vimochana which have jointly compiled the reports chronicling the events of moral policing especially in coastal districts of the state, C S Dwarakanath assailed local press and mainstream media for their bhraminical bias in coverage of the news. While the Udupi Paryaya programmes get a live coverage, the similar function at MM hills never gets a mention in the media, he said.
Dr. Vasu, Professor of History, Bangalore University, regretted the fact that DK district which is supposed to have set an example in modernity to other districts in the state has shut itself from all the progressive influences and become a breeding ground for the saffron vandalism.
Prakash, a social activist from Mangalore spoke about the recent attacks on the minorities by the Sangh Parivar activists. Dr. C G Laxmipathi explained the social engineering by the Sangh Parivar in transforming DK into a bastion of communal forces. G Rajendra, Lecturer, St Joseph’s college presided over the function.
