Cleanliness lacking in Udupi Krishna Temple surroundings

The several KSRTC buses coming under the Mangalore depot of the KSRTC are leaking causing
a great deal of inconvenience to passengers, during rainy season. It would be a misadventure to
travel in these leaking buses by sitting on the window side.

The road leading to Mangalore from the Kulur Bridge on the National Highway 66 is in a sorry
state. Several large potholes have developed on this road giving a tough time for motorists.
Even the place where buses proceeding towards Mangalore halt at the Kulur Junction is ridden
with potholes.

Hundreds of poor families have been residing in Bengre Kasaba area of Mangalore and the
population of the area is over 15000. The place was included in Mangalore City Corporation
in 1996-97. The south of this place came under 60 Bengre ward and north under 11 Panambur
ward.

The Mangalore City Corporation which has embarked upon the Civic Tiger operation on the
grounds that the street side traders were obstructing vehicular traffic was itself engaged in
several works that inconvenienced motorists and pedestrians alike.

The three kms stretch of road leading to the Baikampady Industrial Area from opposite the
Deepak Petrol Bunk at Baikampady, is in a bad state. Dotted with innumerous potholes, it poses
great inconvenience to the public during monsoons, while the road remains dusty during the rest
of the year.

That Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde would be retiring on August 2 though is a matter of
pleasure for the people in power, it has definitely saddened the people of the state.

In case there arises an occasion when Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa has to quit following the mines
report, there are chances for Shobha Karandlaje, the present energy minister, to rise to the top post.

Several roads of Mangalore have been concretized during the past two year period.Hundreds of people
have lost their houses and shops while letting their lands to facilitate the concretization.
Still, amid the concretization spree, the authorities have not given equal importance towards constructing
bus shelters, many of which were demolished to facilitate the road works.

During monsoons, the problem of sea erosion is oft and again highlighted in the media. This problem
has been persisting since the past several decades, A permanent solution could have been found to the
problem by now, if our elected representatives had the will power.
