The recent incident wherein Black Magic or Sorcery was performed at the place where the
Mayor’s car is parked in front of the Mangalore City Corporation building should be condemned
by all enlightened citizens of Mangalore. There is a need for a thorough inquiry of the MCC
security staff in this regard so that the culprits could be brought to book.

The Baikampady bridge is posing innumerous problems to motorists as expected. The initial rains have
created potholes on the road resulting in frequent traffic snarls. It is common to see a serpentine queue
of vehicles on either side of this road.

There is an urgent need for the government to give a serious attention to the law
and order scenario in Mangalore. Already, people who are against the dictatorial
rule in the MCC have taken up cudgels against the administration.

The Mangalore city corporation act of evicting the poor roadside traders of the city
at the instigation of some communal minded entrepreneurs is a case of human rights
violation. It should immediately stop the Civic Tiger operation. It is crystal clear that
the corporation authorities were targeting poor Muslim roadside vendors on the pretext
of beautifying the city and keeping it clean.

Several multi-storied buildings, many of them illegal, are coming up in Udupi town.
Presently, the roads of the town look over crowded with increasing density of vehicles.
There is hardly any space for the pedestrian traffic here.

Some of the BJP corporators led by Sudhish Shetty at the dictates of the Sangh Parivar
have been exploiting and harassing the roadside traders.

It is inhuman on the part of the Mangalore City Corporation to permit the operation of
Civic Tiger in Mangalore without making any alternate arrangements for the roadside
traders.

The Mangalore City Corporation has earned a name for itself in the field of cleanliness
and has also bagged the Cleanliness Award. But of late, it seems Mangalore is losing its
image as a clean city.

Traffic is often disrupted on the railway over bridge at Baikampady on the National
Highway, thanks to a few potholes that have made a reappearance on the road.
