Man accused of killing brother

The case of the death of a person who had recently been admitted to the Karkala hospital with severe intestinal injuries stating he suffered injuries when the scythe used for cutting plants in the fields slipped and hurt his stomach, has now taken a new turn with police investigations revealing that the person was attacked by his very own younger brother owing to a discord between the siblings.

The Suratkal Citizens’ Committee staged a huge protest in front of the MRPL Cargo Gate on Monday demanding that the MRPL quit the place if it failed to function in pro-people manner. The protest was also organized to demand the bituminization of the Suratkal-MRPL road which was in a bad shape and also to demand compensation to the family of Aboobakker Siddique who lost his life when his bike was hit by a tanker on the road on December 6.

MULKI: The town of Mulki observed total bundh on Tuesday in protest against the failure of the government to declare Mulki a taluk and also sanction a court to it. Shops and business establishments in Mulki, Kinnigoli, Haleyangady and other places downed their shutters voluntarily. Even vehicles were off the roads as road blocks had been created at places by burning tyres.
