An alarming fact that the water of the Netravathi river was being contaminated with ash of cremated bodies, has come to light of late at Baddakatte in Bantwal taluk. Locals have already handed over to the police a person who was trying to search for gold after wetting the ash from the nearby Hindu crematorium in the Netravathi waters.
