M’lore airport runway to be extended
The Union Ministry for Civil Aviation which seems to have arisen from its slumber following the recent air crash at Bajpe, is seriously looking into the safety aspect of airports all over the nation and has decided to extend the runway of the Mangalore airport by another 1000 feet, taking the total runway length to 9000 feet.

Bodies of 2 kids killed in air crash missing
The bodies of Mohammad Juber (5) and Jaihab Jiyad (3), children of Jameena Jiyad(35) and Mohammad Jiyad (40) who died in the recent air crash, have not yet been found. Though the bodies of the couple have been identified, the bodies of the children have in all probability been taken by someone else thinking it to be that of their relatives and also cremated, landing Abdul Kareem, father of Jameen and other relatives in a piquant situation.

Neglect of co-pilot’s warning led to M’lore air crash ?
An English daily has reported that the recent Air India Express crash near the Bajpe Airport was the result of Pilot Glausica ignoring the two appeals made by co-pilot HS Ahluwalia to see that the aircraft remained in the air for some time, without landing. This aspect came to light from the Voice Recorder which has recorded eh conversation between the pilots and the ATC.

Stick to rules or shut port for ore traffic, KPSCB dictat to Belekeri port
The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board has directed the Belekeri Port authorities here to close down the port for ore traffic if they cannot restrict the ore lorries as well as the several irregularities in the port. The Board has also warned of legal action if its directive was not taken seriously. As of now, the Belekeri port is free from ore export activities and in the wake of the KPSCB mandate, there are even doubts over the recommencement of the ore export from here after the monsoons.

Why is Poojari angry over Chidambaram ?
The recent statement of former union minister Janardhan Poojari demanding the resignation of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram for his ‘failure’ in combating the Naxal menace, can be attached more significance.
