Is the mid-day meal served to students in government schools of the district,

proving too hot for students ? Such a question has now definitely arisen. Just recently

several students of the Valalu school near Bajattur were taken ill after they consumed

the Bisiyoota in the school. In another incident, as many as 36 students of the Kalmadka

Government Higher Primary School near Sullia were taken ill on Wednesday after they

consumed the mid-day meal at the school.

following the arrest of two persons on the charges of trying to sell the idol of Lakshmi

21,000 houses sans lavatories in DK !

A recent survey undertaken by the Zilla Panchayat has revealed a

stunning fact that as many as 21,000 houses out of the 2.42 lakh families in rural areas of

DK district which were included in the survey, did not have lavatories. This accounted to

8.5 per cent of the total number of rural families.

In yet another clash in the city sub-jail in the recent times, an under

trial broke his tooth after he was given a punch on his face but another under trial on

September 29, Wednesday. The injured under trial has been identified as Mohammad

Latif (25), a man from north India. He had been arrested on charges of vehicle lifting in

Kadaba of Puttur taluk.
