
The task of vacating or demolishing unauthorized religious shrines in
accordance to the Supreme Court ruling, still largely remains incomplete with just 157
out of the 1579 identified buildings vacated so far. The task which was initiated with
much enthusiasm initially, has almost been suspended at present.

The cremation of the body of a young woman in utmost haste at the
government crematorium near Devigudi in Somanthadka of Belthangady recently, has
given room for much suspicion. It is being said that the woman from Gandibagilu had
died mysteriously and her family had brought the body all the way to Somanthadka in an
