An altercation between the President and Vice President of the Vittalpadnur Gram
Panchayat culminated in an attack on the vice president by a panchayat member.
The monthly meeting of the Udupi TMC held here on July 30, Saturday deliberated on
the several civic problems of the town, including side drain irregularities, bad roads and parking
irregularities.
A vital link road to Ujire from Uppinangady, Ilantila and Mogru village had
been developed under the Prime Minister?s Gram Sadak Yojana in the year 2008 itself. But, the
failure of the authorities to install a road sign board at a place called Kallamaada here has been
inconveniencing tourists proceeding towards the pilgrim shrine of Dharmasthala and other places

A significant meeting is to be held at the TMC meeting hall on August 1 to
discuss the proposal to set up a waste treatment unit at Karinje. This meeting gains significance
particularly in the backdrop of the complaints that an earlier meeting held at the Kodamanittaya
Daivasthana at Karinje to discuss the issue failed to arrive at a consensus. Villagers had then
alleged that the authorities had failed to clear their doubts on the project.
Vishwa Mohan Katocha, Chief of the Indian Council For Medical Research(ICMR)
which is undertaking a survey on the ill-effects of Endosulfan, as per the Supreme Court
directive, will be submitting its report on August 5.

The three kms stretch of road leading to the Baikampady Industrial Area from opposite the

The proposed 24X7 water supply project for Mangalore under public-private
partnership programme, was widely opposed at the MCC meeting held on July 29, Friday. The
debate on the proposal scheduled to take place at the meeting, was put off. The MCC also had to
select one of the three bids for this project.
The DK District Congress staged a novel protest against the LPG connection
confusion prevailing in the district, by cooking and frying happalams after lighting fire using
